Obituary
Died in Richmond, December 24th, at 11½ o'clock P. M. of a wound received in the battle near Fredericksburg, Va., Robert Cochran Green, Captain of company L, 21st Mississippi reg't, aged 33 years son of the late James S. Green, and nephew of Bishop Green, of Mississippi.
He was born in Wilmington, but for some years past resided in Vicksburg, Miss. Brave, generous, frank, truthful, and noble in his nature, he won the heart of every one associated with him, and he was ever true to his friendships. The leaden messenger sent by Death to summon him as another sacrifice on the altar of his country, entered his left eye and passed out near the right ear. Oh! how much we shall miss his soft voice and pleasant face. When the last trump[et] shall summon from their graves the vast armies that have fallen in battle to the throne of Divine Justice and Mercy. Liberty will be there to plead for the pardon of those who have perished in her cause, and the tears and prayers of a grateful nation registered in their favor in the Recording Angel's book.
